MCCOOL JUNCTION, NE (July 15, 2004) - Jason Johnson survived a challenge from Brooke Tatnell then pulled away to win the O'Reilly/NCRA vs. SCOA Outlaw Sprint series A feature Thursday at Junction City Speedway.
Johnson, who started outside front row next to pole sitter Daron Clayton, jumped into an early lead as eighth starting Tatnell charged toward the front. In turn four of lap 16 Tatnell powered past Johnson for the lead, but Johnson roared back around Tatnell in turn two for the lead and his second career NCRA victory. Tatnell saw a possible runner-up finish evaporate when his engine and rear end gave out with three laps remaining. The Phillips Trop Artic sprinter was credited with a seventeenth place finish. Sixth starting Billy Alley took over second place with Patrick Bourke picking up third.
Dion Hindi won the ten lap B main over Jason Martin. Hindi started seventeenth in the main and worked his way up to finish twelfth.
The series moves to 81 Speedway in Wichita on Friday night.
