July 20, 2005

As Jerrod Hull climbed from the Rich DeReu owned/Scott Bonar wrenched 50 car Tuesday night in Memphis, Missouri, it marked his personal 12th win of the season, and the 5th for the DeReu Crew.

"What a place to get another win," he said. " We almost had this race acouple of years ago and it has remained a place where I wanted a win. We got it tonight."

Jerrod powered the Midland Performance/Cernovich’s/Rodger Wagner Construction/Midland Sign Solutions/Newberry Mow and Snow/ Avenger #50 to a runner-up spot in Heat race action, qualifying for the night's Shake-Up Dash.  With 6 of the night's top cars running in the Shake-up dash, Jerrod would finish 5th, due to uncomfortable track conditions.  Fans were treated to an exciting 3-wide battle for the first 4 laps at the begining of the feature event as Jerrod battled series leader Jesse Giannetto and another Midland Performance shop-based car of Matt Rogerson.  After a few cautions and extra rubber laid down, Jerrod took control of the event and brought home the trophy.

The final feature of the evening was the 20-lap Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders. Matt Rogerson and Jesse Giannetto made up the front row for the feature, with Rogerson powering into the lead on lap 1. Rogerson's lead only lasted until lap 3, when Giannetto jumped to his outside for the top spot. But Rogerson would come back on the bottom of the speedway to take the lead back on lap 5, with Giannetto coming back on the top side to take the lead again on lap 6. A red flag for the roll over of Jimmy Davies—who was not injured—slowed the pace on lap 12. On the restart, Jerrod Hull would slip under Giannetto to over take the top spot and then held on for his fifth Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders win of 2005. Giannetto was second, Bobby Hawks was third, Rogerson slipped to fourth, with John VanDenBerg rounding out the top 5. Rogerson, Hawks and Brent Antill claimed the three heat wins. Hawks also picked up the dash victory.

He said after the race, "That race was one of the most esciting I have been in in a long time.  Matt, Jesse, and Bobby (Hawks) are all great drivers and it's always great to win against that kind of talent.  I have to take my hat off to the guys that helped make it possible tonight; Scott Bonar, Dave Beck, Charlie Gilpin, and Roger Wagner gave me an awesome car.  And, without the support of Rich DeReu, we wouldn't even be able to back this car out of the trailer."
